10 January 2005. CrystalMaker Software Ltd is pleased
to announce the launch of SingleCrystal 1.0: an innovative
program for simulating diffraction patterns from single
crystals, visualizing the Reciprocal Lattice, and displaying
stereographic projections of lattice planes.
SingleCrystal works with CrystalMaker,
reading from saved crystal files to visualize
sections of the reciprocal lattice, and
simulate electron diffraction patterns.
You can open a crystal file in SingleCrystal,
or use CrystalMaker's Transform > Diffraction Pattern > Single-Crystal
command to obtain a single-crystal diffraction pattern for any displayed
crystal structure.
The first full version of SingleCrystal takes into account feedback
received from many users, over the course of three public-beta
versions released in the previous year. The full, commercial version
also includes some significant new features, which will greatly
strengthen its usability: export of high-resolution vector-based
graphics, and the ability to customize, and save preferences.
Both diffraction patterns and stereographic projections can now be
copied to the clipboard, as high-resolution (vector-based) PDF
graphics. The graphics can be pasted into programs such as Adobe
Illustrator, for editing or annotations - and resized with no loss
of detail. The graphics can also be saved to disc in a variety of
file formats, by using the standard Preview application's export
command.
The new program also includes a tabbed preferences dialog, allowing
users to browse and edit the default settings (which are saved to
the user's preferences folder).
Other new features include improvements to the Info Bar display,
a completely updated and expanded PDF user's guide, and various
bug fixes.
with the Public Beta version.
SingleCrystal requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later.
