CrystalMaker® 8.1.5 Update for Mac
(Requires an existing CrystalMaker 8 installation)

Licensed CrystalMaker-8 users may download a free update from this page. This is a compliance-checking update: you are required to have a previous version of CrystalMaker 8 successfully-installed and licensed on your Mac.

If you are not a licensed user, you are welcome to download a free demonstration version of CrystalMaker, which includes crystal and molecule example files, and can also be used as a free viewer for CIF, PDB, ICSD and many other file formats.

CrystalMaker 8.1 is distributed as a Universal Binary application, which runs natively on both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs.

The latest version, 8.1.5, builds on the major new features introduced in version 8.1, with a whole slew of key new features!

These include the ability to drag-and-drop multiple files (including text files) into the Views pane, for easy animation; torsion angles are now signed, web page output is far more powerful (and elegant), data browsers are easier to use (you can now double-click to edit text), and the software is easier to install on multi-user systems.

Update Notes and Instructions
  1. Before you attempt to install this update, you must have first successfully installed (and licensed) your copy of CrystalMaker from the original CD-ROM. You cannot run this update on a "clean" system.

  2. The update package is compressed as a Zip archive. Once expanded (Safari does this automatically) you will have a standard Mac OS X Disk Image, with the file extension ".dmg".

  3. Mount the disc image by double-clicking it and then letting Disk Copy do its work. (Please note: Safari does this automatically for you.)

  4. A new volume should appear on your desktop, with a white, removable-disc icon, entitled "CrystalMaker 8.x Update".

  5. To install the CrystalMaker update, simply drag the contents of this disc into the Applications folder - an alias is provided to make this easier. You may want to backup your old CrystalMaker program first.

  6. You can now drag the removable disc icon to the trash. (You may wish to retain the ".dmg" disc image file for backup purposes.)

Before you download: you must already have purchased and installed a full version of CrystalMaker 8. This update will NOT update CrystalMaker 7, CrystalMaker 6, etc.!
